Hotels Sorrento Coast

| Hotel on the Sorrento Coast among the hotels in the Sorrento Peninsula near Naples

Location

The Hotel Eden is located just a few steps from Piazza Tasso and lively Piazza Lauro, surrounded by a luxuriant garden in the ideal location for visiting Sorrento and the many itineraries for discovering the Sorrento Peninsula, the water shed between the Gulfs of Naples and Sorrento, with Punta Campanella, which separates the Costiera Sorrentina from the Costiera Amalfitana.
Sorrento is very well served by public transportation, both by land, with the light rail line, the Circumvesuviana (station just 50 meters from the Hotel Eden), which connects with Naples in an hour, the excavations at Pompei in half an hour and those of Ercolano in 50 minutes, and by sea, with the direct Naples - Sorrento hydrofoil (35 minutes) and the Metrò del Mare that, from Porto di Marina Piccola (where the hydrofoils leave for Capri and Ischia), 1 km from the Eden, with numerous navigation lines reaches Naples in 40 minutes, Positano in a half hour and Amalfi in an hour. The CTP buses for tourists provide a 24 hour connection between Porto di Marina Piccola, Circumvesuviana, Piazza Tasso and the hotels.

The birthplace of Torquato Tasso, Sorrento has been frequented by artists and writers since the days of the Gran Tour. Among others, Byron, Goethe and Sten dhal chose to live here for its gentle climate and the romantic beauty of its landscapes, defined by the contrast between the yellow of the tuff coast which descends steeply to an intense blue sea and the panorama that spans from Capri to Vesuvius, between luxuriant hills of Mediterranean thatch and Sorrento's citrus groves.
Even today, Sorrento preserves a timeless fascination, enriched by a pinch of modernity, especially in the summer, when the prestigious musical seasons of the lovely Cloister of San Francesco attract a culture and refined public.

Sorrento's origins are very ancient, first Greek and then Roman. Today, you can still recognize the main street, the Roman decuman, that crosses the minor lanes where you can see the Basilica of Sant’Antonino, with its many picturesque "ex voto" offerings of sailors and fisherman grateful for surviving shipwrecks, the Museo Bottega della Tarsia Lignea (Decorative Arts Museum), devoted to the popular craft of inlaid wood, the Romanesque Cathedral, the Sedile Dominova, a refined 15th-century construction where the nobles once met to discuss the city's administration and the Museo Correale di Terranova which houses a very interesting collection of paintings and everyday objects of the Campania tradition from the 16th to the 17th century in the rooms of Villa Correale, which is surrounded by a splendid citrus grove and a spectacular terrace overlooking the sea. There is also the enchanting Vallone dei Mulini, behind Piazza Tasso, a deep tuff ravine that once had mills that ground flour for Sorrento and neighboring towns.
Via San Cesareo is the street for shopping, with stores and boutiques where you can choose from colorful artistic ceramics, objects made of inlaid wood, worked coral, refined lace and embroidery and gastronomic delicacies: limoncello, delizie al limone (the traditional Sorrento sweet), Provolone del Monaco, Trecce di mozzarella and extra-virgin olive oil.
